I started with Damn Small Linux, which was essentially Debian Woody.
It wasn't my first distro, but it was the first distro I loved.
It was simpler and smaller than the mainstream distros of the day. There was
no Ubuntu back then. I think some newbies might do better with narrower
choices, so I might keep half an eye on AntiX, LXLE, etc. if there were a
bunch of wide eyed newbies in my life hanging on my every word hoping to
glean a pearl of wisdom....
...but since there aren't, meh; netinstall CD and usual random curiosity is
all I really need at this point--and protecting myself from pointless
timesucks.
