Thank you for your reply. The R61 has the Middleton Bios firmware, so the  
whitelist is gone. I'm not interested in the USB wifi stuff, for reasons of  
loss. I know that Atheros, in 2008 began working with FSF to make their 9k  
wifi chipsets FSF compatible and I think that this kind of company needs  
support as well. So, if someone can tell me the correct Atheros wifi card to  
buy for the Thinkpad R61, then I'd really appreciate it.
Trisquel 8.0 is alpha, but does that mean that there's no work around for my  
problem?
