I applaud your efforts and encourage you to write others as well in hopes of
building interest for a advanced Libre platform.
I often think about the momentum that comes from the gaming communities
(developers/distributors/gamers/etc.) and wonder if Steam would have a
comment or interest

I do not know if any gaming community has ever expressed specific support to
FSF or the Libre concept, but I hope it happens and a powerful Libre computer
available from major distributors could help.
