With any other vendor, there is a risk that the chipset changed. Constructor sometimes do that: they change the chipset (what matters for the support) during the life time of a model and there is no way to know (the wrapping, in particular, is the same).

vendors that guarantee that 100% free Linux kernels (no proprietary firmware
in particular) properly drive all the hardware they sell (including internal
Wifi cards). They both internationally ship.
