I do not think there is software running in earphones/headphones.  Anything  
you can plug in the phone connector of your computer should work out of the

If you are talking about Bluetooth devices, then the Bluetooth chipset in  
your computer needs software to be functional.  Unfortunately, many such  
chipsets only have proprietary firmware.  Rightfully, Trisquel does not ship  
proprietary firmware with its kernels.
