Is there an easy way for you to share your about:config? Something else occurs to me. I'm not knowledgable enough to know if this is possible, but could it be the distro? You use Debian, right? Perhaps they've done something differently from OpenSUSE either in their build of Firefox or elsewhere in the distro? When I have time to figure out tcpdump I'll see if the issue occurs in Trisquel.
