I'm not familiar with the worspace switcher, so this may not be what you're  
looking for, but, have you tried Rofi? I'm not sure if it's in the repos. It  
is licensed under the X11 License.

It can handle window switching, but also other things such as running  
applications, searching for files, ssh...

It's also highly configurable.
