Bash is a type of shell: put it wherever you want in your car but it must be  
one single piece.  Originally, UNIX had sh (the Bourne Shell) to interpret  
commands.  It was quite limited.  That why many other command line  
interpreters (aka "shells") were developed to replace it (while keeping the  
compatibility with sh): GNU Bash but also zsh, ksh, tcsh, etc.  Brace  
expansion is the kind of more advanced features some of these shells added.
