I don't think it's helpful to tell people to rebase their entire
working environment over one little snag.  That leads to a dangerous
game of constantly re-installing and never getting anything done.

Note that there are lots of threads about updating software to newer versions in the forums (recently someone asked about updating Ethereum), so it should be pointed out that Trisquel has old software some of which does not receive security updates unless it is from Ubuntu's main repository, and that one should not in general mess around with upgrading packages and libraries via PPA or by compiling from source to the root directory as those are not supported by Trisquel (e.g. it can lead to issues when installing other packages which depend on older libraries).
