Looks like some program/package messed up your gtk config files. Those are plain text files that can be edited with text editor. I can't help you here but more advanced forum users will be able to tell you where those config files are located and how to edit them, if you provide information about what Trisquel version and what desktop environment you are using.

GNU/Linux has multiple desktop environments and window managers to choose from. If you have problems with one desktop environment, you can easily install another one.
