Thanks, I played with it, but I'm afraid that more work is required on upstream Sonnet to work properly. I've chatted with sandsmark (the author) about that, so he's aware of the shortcomings.

Patch for Trojita was rather easy [1]. In order to build Sonnet, you need KDE's extra-cmake-modules. Some messing with prefixes was also needed, and I had to patch Sonnet to look up its plugins correctly on my box where Qt5's prefix != KF5 prefix. Everything has been reported, let's see how it ends up.

As an alternative, Psi (the Jabber/XMPP messenger) has also some spellchecking support, perhaps we could use that. Or backport Sonnet to Qt4, or something :). Well, that would be for somebody else.
