Moin Jonas, freie Alternative habe sich nie so richtig durchgesetzt. Kopete ist nur ein Instant Messenger. Jonas will wohl auch mal telefonieren. Whatsapp wäre doch bestimmt was für dich ;) Oh moment ist fast noch schlimmer als Skype, wird aber gerne benutzt, da der Account an die Telefonnummer gebunden ist und gleichzeitig als Authentifizierung benutzt wird. Zu dem Motto wie kann ich effektiv alle meine Daten einem Anbieter geben.
Die neuesten Betas von Chrome und Firefox unterstützen Webcam und Mikrophon, so dass man auch mit denen einen Chat aufbauen kann. Der Standard dazu heisst WebRTC. Bei Microsoft wird dagegen ein anderer Standard entwickelt.
