Re the TROM algebra, well, I was taught in school to write it this way:
[1 + (-y)]  is the opposition goal to 'x'.  '1' represents 'wholeness' or
'universe'; 'y' is the complementary goal of 'x'.

 the opposition goal to x is [1 + (-y)], the negative of y;

Is this correct?
