On the other hand you can't blame Hubbard for hanging out with bad people or bad actors, like Crowley. There is nothing wrong with someone like Hubbard checking out such stuff.

(of which there are people, who label Hubbard as evil or having evil intentions just for hanging out with Crowley, quite possibly for researching the big picture)

Hubbard checked out all sides of the spectrum.

Haven't we all checked out things, that we eventually realized that it was not our cup of tea.

How else do you learn between right and wrong?

You learn the stove is hot by touching it and getting burnt.

So my point is that you have to see this in proper context.

Such research is part of completing the cycle of learning, knowing and understanding.
