Hi Colleen,

Just want to share something about RI that I have used to quickly change your
point-of-view on importances, the main message from Dennis was that importance
is relative and I haven’t really seen people on the list touch this axiom:

Event, Get the idea that you have a tooth-ache, a dentist becomes important and
the motivation to arrange an appointment

Place, You are in Turkey as a woman, a scarf around the face and no bare legs
is quite important

Time, 300 or so years ago, imagine you are a witch, now it is quite important
to keep this hidden from people otherwise you would be burned on the stakes.

Get the idea of being a doctor, many things become important:

Scalpel

White coat

Knowledge on biology

Doctor-patient confidentiality

…

Jockey

Pose

Horse

Music teacher

Violin

Piano

Flute

Drums

Rhythm

Notes

Captain of a cruise ship

Boat

Security

Engine

Direction

Sonar

I think you can see how this works, just switch the ‘be’ to some other ‘role’
and many different things become important.

Remember, importance is relative:

The person/beingness (doctor, laywer, programmer, artist, waitress, black-jack
player, football player, …)

Situation (imagine your car suddenly has a flat tire)

Time and/or Place (imagine being on the moon, many new things become important
that before you never considered)

The ability to assign importances at will -- another plus point for doing RI

For example, a blank sheet of paper is worshipped by all.

"Create a not-know", ummm hard black screens

There is so much potential leeway with RI

It seems, wouldn;t you agree, that in its strictest sense it was mean to
supplement timebreaking and keep timebreaking moving along smoothly. I've had
enough intro to RI now and I'm changing my attitude towards it so I can get
some timebreaking worked into my session time. And still do it to "No More
Change"..

It's just that sometimes it seems to be an almost infinite process of change
after change after change -- not that I mind because I'm really enjoying
watching whats going on and the insights I get.

So, I'm thinking I could select subjects that are good havingness without being
too significant, like kittens and puppies.. Or I could re-hash subjects that
have already been RI'd and perhaps the significances already run out of them,
so the RI would be speedily completed and then on to timebreaking.

Paul, I for some reason had the idea that after one completed Level 5, RI could
be put away. Are you positive you completed Level 5? How would one know
they have completed Level 5?
