Hi Colleen
Have you read James Carse's "Finite and Infinite Games". He posits that an adept game player will play a game to win until he sees that one of the players is losing at which point he will take action to get the player back to winning again so the game will never end. For instance, my neighbor has a pregnant wife and 4 kids but his wood stove's glass door was broken and his chainsaw was not working. He was losing the game of keeping his family warm. I talked him into letting me take the door from the wood stove to town where I had a new glass put in it. I also had the saw shop put a new bar and chain on the saw and provided him with logs to cut for firewood. Now all are warm and cozy and back to playing the game. Anyone can do this. It doesn't take a change at the national level it does take a change at the personal level.
