Hi,
Today I'd like to tell you about an experiment I recently did.
The context to TROM in the following account is established via
RI and the technique of creating or mocking up something.
The house where I live is surrounded by a couple of trees,
one of them standing in a distance of about five meter to a window.
Recently one morning looking out that window I saw two birds
sitting in that tree. I assume they could not see me because
the birds looked the other way and I stood in the dark room behind
two layers of window-glass.
The little birds were of the same flock, probably a couple.
They sat there silent and motionless in the trees twigs.
I had a spontaneous idea: "Let's try to as-is those birds.
May be I can manage to make them disappear or at least make them
fly away."
Well, the non-OTish approach would have been to throw a stone or clap
hands loud. But I sought a more subtle method.
Knowing that two objects can not occupy the same space at the same
time - per one of the laws this universe is built upon - I choose
one of those two birds first in order to make a duplicate of it
(I think it was the female one). I intended to re-create this bird
as its mock-up (a mockingbird so to speak - pun intended) and then
superimpose that mental image on the "real" bird. That should do the
trick I figured.
I think it took about a minute or two of doing the mock-up exercise
when - to my own surprise - this bird having been motionless up to
that moment - started to get more and more agitated. (To increase the
effect I tried even to create some internal organs of the birds organism,
particularly the brain and heart).
The bird started to chirp, move its head around in nervous, jerking
motions. Then it jumped on an other twig ... and another one.
I followed with my mock-up adjusting/refreshing it from time to time
(I felt the mock-up had exhausted itself or lost some substance by now).
It was not until about three minutes had passed that the bird,
in a mode that looked to me as a kind of panic, flew away and out
of my sight. At that time I felt already a slight kind of mental
tiredness.
Never the less I started concentrating my attention now on the other
bird of the couple. Interesting enough this one was still sitting
motionless
and silent so as if it had not noticed at all that his spouse had flown
away.
It took not very long and this bird started behaving in a similar
fashion like the first one. It started chirping, looking around nervously
like sensing some danger by instinct. In an attempt to get out of the
field of supposed danger it jumped to other twigs repeatedly. Finally
it gave in and flew away.
I did not check the time that had passed but think all in all it may have
been little more than five minutes. I felt even more exhausted mentally
by now and had a slight somatic in both of my eyes (similar to when staring
concentrated into a computer screen for an extended period of time).
The phenomenon is known in TR-0 when the trainee does not do the drill
correctly but confronts via body parts - e.g. his eyes. I obviously did put
too much effort into the activity instead of just doing it by intention.
Never the less I had my little win for that day.
I admit that the experiment described above does not represent any proof
according to scientific experimental standards.
If some of you occasionally feel like tinkering around along the line
of as-ising life-forms or matter (besides mental image pictures) I would
really appreciate to hear about your results and conclusions regarding
this kind of activities.
ARC
Robin
