I'm afraid you caught me on my vacation.  Please send the patch to the 
trousers-tech list.  Please put it inline instead of attached and add a 
signed-off-by.  Please also note that any signed-off-by is agreeing to 
the new BSD license for your contribution.

I'll do a more thorough review once you submit the patch but at first 
glance the idea seems sane and you should use strncpy instead of strcpy.
