Hello-

I am trying to get a key stored to the TPM. I have been using this as a guide
(although quite outdated):

http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/lnxinfo/v3r0m0/topic/liaai.tpm/liaaitpm_pdf.pdf

I am on a Dell Latitude e6540 with a 1.2 TPM running Ubuntu 12.04. I am using
TPM_Tools 1.3.8 and Trousers 0.3.13.

I have gotten to the command:

# cat /home/temp_plain_key | tpm_sealdata -z -p 4 -p 8 -p 9 -p 12 -p14 -o
/home/sealed_key

When I do that I get the error:

Tspi_Key_CreateKey failed: 0x00000001 - layer=tpm, code=0001 (1),
Authentication failed

I read here:
http://en.it-usenet.org/thread/11885/1194/

That I am supposed to issue a "tpm_changeownerauth -s" command and hit enter at
the SRK prompts so there is no SRK password.

Does anyone have a way to get past this? Is the "tpm_takeownership -z" command
the same as running "tpm_changeownerauth -s"?

Thank you to all those that respond for the help. I am grateful.

Thanks,

Alex
