It works well now.
How often is the status line updated? It looks like it's fairly often, since
the cursor is often caught not on the leftmost column (which would cause
tracking problems for displays with short lines). Since it takes a moment to
read braille anyway, perhaps it'd be reasonable to only rewrite the status line
once each second.
Back to beeps for a moment: I think that the home key should beep when already
playing the first clip, that the end key should beep when already playing the
last clip, and that keys with unassigned functions should also beep.
