That's probably the cause of the problem.  TRPlayer was built for
libc-2.1.x.  I have a friend who still has an old Red Hat 5.2 system on
her hard disk, so I may be able to build a version of TRPlayer for the
older libraries.  I would make static linking of the C library a last
resort, because that would add 100K or more to the size of the binary.
