Hi again Chuck:  well, I can't tell whether X is necessary or not from
that url.  It is an .smi file using the rtsp protocol.  When I ran it
with trplayer it just told me some components necessary are not
available on my computer.  My guess would be that it's the .smi which
maybe the problem rather than X itself.  Just guessing though!
