I'm not very experienced in this area, and right now I'm using vsound for
recorded .ram files, not live. But I'm just doing
"vsound -t trplayer (file.ram). This creates a .au file which produces a
.wav file and then I use lame to make the mp3 file. But it may be that
what you are wanting to do is eliminate the step of making the .wav file?
