> Marlin, this sounds like false idols to me. Am I wrong?

Yes. We agree. False idols.

> I know a lot of people try and say this is a christmas tree. You don't
think that, do you?

Dear David,

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck .... it is close enough for
me to consider that it could be a duck.

The first part of Jeremiah 10 sure sounds like a Christmas tree. Later
verses could show that it is some kind of a carved object, an image. I
realize this.

But why is it that we observe things that are not in the Bible and do not
observe the things that are in the Bible?

This is what God commands me to do:

DEUT 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God
giveth
thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those
            nations.

Therefore, origins are important to God. Why do we follow the traditions of
men and reject the Words of God? Christmas is totally foreign to the early
followers of Jesus. Applying His name to something He was never in takes
his name in vain. As far as I can tell, only sinners celebrated Birthdays
in the Bible.

Love,

Marlin
