On June 12th the California
Assembly passed a Father's Day resolution authored by a lesbian Assembly
member, Christine Kehoe of San Diego. The resolution praised fatherhood
and then listed various kinds of fathers, including "families headed by
two fathers." It was passed by a vote of 42-24. All 24 Republicans voted
against the resolution
TVC sent out a press release
protesting this insult to fatherhood on June 13. In it, Rev. Sheldon
noted: "I am appalled that these Democrats in the legislature claim their
actions are not part of a concerted homosexual agenda." And, TVC's
California lobbyist and aide to Rev. Sheldon observed: "This legislature
may say they are for families, but this action speaks differently. This
resolution is an insult to the natural distinction of fatherhood."
We are urging

FATHER'S DAY RESOLUTION HONORING
FAMILIES
WITH "TWO FATHERS"
Another
Indication Liberal Legislature is
Catering to Demands of Radical
Homosexuals
![]() Anaheim, California- "Liberal Democrats in the State Assembly
are making it clear that they are for redefining the family and are
blatantly catering to the radical, out of step demands of the homosexual
community," said the Rev. Louis P. Sheldon, Chairman and Founder of
Traditional Values Coalition. "When California is facing a deficit over
$30 billion in the whole, Democrats think it more important to pervert the
celebration of Father's Day."
Yesterday, June 12th, the
California State Assembly passed Assembly House Resolution 32, authored by
Assembly Member and lesbian Christine Kehoe of San Diego, with a vote of
42 to 24. 24 Republicans voted against the bill.
HR 32 clearly states,
"America's families reflect the wonderful diversity of our society as our
fathers come from all backgrounds…" HR 32 lists various fathers, among
them it reads "families headed by two fathers."
"Californians need to
realize that anything proposed by any of the openly-homosexual members of
the Assembly, like Kehoe, is part of a larger agenda to equate their
sexual lifestyle with that of marriage and to redefine the very term
family, 'said Benjamin Lopez, TVC lobbyist and aide to Sheldon. "This
legislature may say they are for families, but this action speaks
differently. This resolution is an insult to the natural distinction of
fatherhood," Lopez said.
On two other occasions last
week the State Assembly also passed legislation equating homosexual
"domestic partnerships" with marriage, granting such partners all the
benefits of marriage (AB 205). They also passed legislation that would
mandate that any business or contractor that does business with the state
or state agency must first agree to provide "domestic partner" benefits to
their homosexual employee's partner (AB 17). Both of these bills passed
the State Assembly on June 4th, with only Democrats voting in support.
They now are in the State Senate.
"I am appalled that these
Democrats in the legislature claim their actions are not part of a
concerted homosexual agenda," Sheldon added. "But if you look at the
legislation they are cramming down our throats, like homosexual foster
care, transsexual employment, homosexual curriculum, and giving marriage
benefits to homosexuals, it is clear they are pushing such an agenda. How
can they look us in the face and lie claiming otherwise?"
"Democrats in California
know exactly what they are doing," Lopez said. "There is the saying 'As
California goes, so goes the nation,' well, this is their way of thumbing
their nose at the traditional family unit and in effect they are saying
'To hell with the family, America! California is going to glorify
homosexuality,' and I only hope it will come back to haunt them."
