When Izzy wrote in part:"Homemaking is my "calling" because it is truly where my heart is." and
I commented:" Amen! Sister! This is one of the major reasons why women are such effective ministers in house church gatherings!!"
You resonded:"then (not unlike institutional churches per se), modern 'house churches' per se have nothin' to do with heaven, that's for several reasons (some presented in other TT posts, inc Laura's)
one of JCs reasons, however: '..where your treasure is, there will your heart be'; e.g., of the two
sisters he hung out with, Mary and Martha, Mary actually entertained JCs heart and mind for ministry which had nothin' to do with Martha-ism:) or Jewish/Gentile institutions, etc.
FTR, I suspect only a few godly women ever grasp this NT point which results partic from faulty Bible teaching (as, e.g., Mr Wood4d's) reinforcing their mis-perceptions of JC
First of all, Gary, feel free to call me Bruce. "Mr." sounds so old! I'm only 50!
I could be wrong, but I think you missed the entire point of Izzy's post relative to how she loves to minister to people, meet needs, speak of Christ to the lost and simply use her home as a means to invest in heaven! A wise and godly man once told me, "If you want to invest in heaven, you have to invest in eternal commodities!" He continued, "There are only two of them: people and the Word of God. So if you invest your life in getting people into the Word and getting the Word into people, you will have investments that you can never lose and which will pay multiplied dividends for eternity. But if you invest in anything else, you'll leave it all behind!"
I am totally baffled why you would be critical of a sister whose heart is set on such eternal investments.
Specificly how do you see what she has said as "misperceptions of Jesus Christ" or of my own comments as "reinforcing mis-perceptions of Jesus Christ"?
How would you suggest that godly sisters minister and use their talents and homes for Christ? (It is one thing to criticise what you might perceive as wrong thinking. It is another to encourage others on in paths marked by right thinking.)
Your servant for Jesus' sake, Bruce
