Dear Sister, The Torah is the Pentateuch (Genesis to Deuteronomy) But the Book of the law is ONLY the Book of Deuteronomy! This is demonstrated by the fact that ALL the things which are said to be written by Moses in the Book of the Law are found in the Book of Deuteronomy ALONE!
Judy: I understand that after the 40yr wilderness experience Moses was addressing a new generation that had not seen the curses of Egypt personally and so had to be told and he made a covenant with God's people on the plains of Moab 39yrs after the covenant of Sinai (Exodus 20:24) Bruce: -the commandments and statutes (Deuteronomy 30:10) are specificly those which Moses commanded them THE DAY HE COMPLETED THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY!(Deuteronomy 27:10; 28:15; 28:45; 30:10,16) These are distinguished from those which were given almost 40 years previously at Sinai (See Leviticus 26:46 ) -that fathers should not be put to death for the sins of the children and vice versa is found in the Book of the law(II Kings 14:6), but it is only found in Deuteronomy 24:16 ! -that an altar to the Lord should only be made of whole stones upon which no iron tool had been raised was written in the Book of the Law (Joshua 8:31). But that instruction can only be found in Deuteronomy 27:5. Judy: Deut 24:16 is the 'righteous judgment of God' which says that every man will be judged/rewarded for what he has done and this is repeated all through the Bible. Deut 27:5 is not the ONLY instruction about altars with uncut stones - we see the same instruction in Exodus 20:25. Bruce: Finally, that which was written at Sinai (the Book which Moses wrote and the tables which God wrote) are NEVER called the "Book of the Law" or "Tables of the Law"! They are rather called the "Book of the Covenant"(Exodus 24:7; 2 Kings 23:2 & 2 Chronicles 34:30) and the "Tables of the covenant" (Deuteronomy 9:9,11,15 and Hebrews 9:4) I'd written:"Deut. 4:13 defines the specific contents of the covenant that was first made with them children of Israel as THE TEN COMMANDMENTS! This is precisely the first covenant (Heb.8:7-9) which decayed, waxed old and was ready to vanish away when the Book of Hebrews was written nearly two millenia ago!" Judy: Exodus 24:12 says Now the Lord (at Sinai) said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain and remain there and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commandments which I have written for their instruction" Previously in Exodus 17:14 God had instructed Moses to write a book as a memorial and to recite it to Joshua...Originally all the writings of Moses in the Pentateuch were written in one book divided into five sections. See Deuteronomy 29:21; 30:10; 31:26; Joshua 1:8 Such was only a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ and we are NO LONGER UNDER THAT SCHOOLMASTER, BUT ARE RATHER THE CHILDREN OF GOD BY FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS! (Gal.3:21-26)" Judy: Then the schoolmaster has not done his job Bruce because the professing Church is wearing the curse - Professing Christians do not see any connection between sickness and sin today. In fact Christ is offered as an escape from hell and a ticket to heaven unconditionally and this is not the teaching of the schoolmaster. Bruce: Once the "schoolmaster" (the old covenant) has brought us to Christ, and after that faith is come, we are NO LONGER UNDER THE SCHOOLMASTER! New covenant saints ARE NO LONGER UNDER THE SCHOOLMASTER (the old covenant made at Sinai)! See Gal.3:24,25 Judy: Exodus 24 tells us that God gave Moses both LAW and commandments At Mount Sinai. Where in all of scripture do you find it clearly written that a part of the writings of Moses only are the schoolmaster? Jesus said that heaven and earth would pass away before one jot or tittle of the law changed.
