I do like being accepted as a Christian though. ShieldsFamily

That is one thing I find so interesting about TT, Izzy.....Christian
tolerance is a rare commodity here. Supposedly, TT is anopen
(to everyone) forum where even sodomites are welcome. Inreality,
most TTers find it difficult to accept (or perhaps I should say, feel
comfortable) having those with contrasting views be an activepart
of TT. Judy:I
don't know that there is such a thing as "Christian tolerance"
DAVEH: Would you consider
Christ's treatment of the woman about to be stoned for adultery as "Christian
tolerance"?
DaveH. Jesus
didn't exactly practice Christian tolerance toward sin but hedid
love and help sinners by healing and forgiving them while ATSTtelling
them to "go and sin no more" -
DAVEH: OK......so we are
a little bit close on this, Judy.
and when John pointed outsomeone
who was casting out demons in His name but who wasnot
part of their group, Jesus said "Do not forbid him for noonewho
works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil ofme
- for he who is not against us is on our side" Mk 9:38,39. What
I find sad on TT is how professing believers reject peopleJesus
died for. How it is possible to communicate a loving saviorto
ppl we despise and reject I don't know. How does one lay downtheir
life for those they consider beneath them? It's something toponder. As
for Mormons teaching Christian virtue.
DAVEH: ??? Has that
been going on in TT???
You may call it that but thereality
is there is no power in your lives to live it. My daughter usedto
go to Salt Lake City on business trips and she has friends who wereraised
there (some ex Mormons but not believers, and one who is aChristian
Scientist). All concur that beneath a squeaky clean surfaceappearance
fruit in people's lives is just as rotten as anywhere elseand
respect for persons worse because the LDS Church runs theState
of Utah and non Mormons are discriminated against there.
DAVEH: I can't speak much
for the LDS folks in SLC, as I've never lived there. (Blaine might
be able to share a better perspective, as he lives near there.)
Nor do I claim LDS folks are better than any other Christians.......though
we should be. If any LDS folks are less than perfect.......I realize
they are human, and I do hope they are striving to correct their imperfections
as they seek to follow in Jesus' footsteps.
Grace,
mercy, and peace to you,
DAVEH: Thank you.
Judy
