DavidM,

Speaking only for myself, I have imagined nothing of the sort that you described below. I do not see any evil at all in DaveH's intentions, stated or unstated, and I do beleive that his "public" (politically correct and acceptable to the TT audience) reason for being on TT is to "learn what protestants think". This is an admirable reason that will let no one in on the underlying reason(s). As I said, he may not even be aware of the underlying reasons himself, but often our underlying reasons for doing things come out in our actions.

His actions have indicated to me that he has one of two (or maybe a combination of the two) reasons for being here besides the acceptable "public" reason. 1) He wants to affirm and bolster his own faith by proving that Protestants are all screwed up in their theology, and that he can effectively defend his own faith against anything and everything they believe, or 2) he is testing Protestant theology to see if it can be considered a viable Christian position, perhaps for conversion.

My inclination is to beleive the first reason, especially in light of the fact that he discusses some of this in his church meetings. The second reason is a real stretch for any Mormon unless the Holy Spirit is involved, which I do not rule out. In the case of 2, it makes sense that he might not truly understand the real reason that he is in TT. I believe it is possible for the HS to lead us in directions without our being aware that we are being led.

If DavidH someday becomes cognizant of the nuderlying reason, and then changes his stated goal on TT to match his actions, then he will no longer be creating congnitive dissonance, he will have become congruent; i.e., his stated intentions and his actions will match.

I know this will sound like gobblety-gook to some, and probably especially so to DaveH since, when his congruency is challenged he gets confused, probably in order to maintain the facade of political correctness before the group.

The bottom line...DavidH cannot bring himself to say to the group "I am in Truth Talk to bolster my own faith by defending it against the screwed up theology of Protestants" for fear of being shunned by the group, or perhaps because he does not yet consciously acknowledge his underlying motives, so instead he offers a more acceptable reason, "I am here to learn what protestants beleive". What well-intentioned evangelical Christian wouldn't jump at the chance to witness to a non-beleiver in the Christ and God of the Bible!

I think many TruthTalkers here perceive you to have ulterior motives.
They imagine that you are documenting carefully everything you learn
here, then strategizing your attack against non-Mormons to cause them to
convert to Mormonism. They feel that you are honing your knowledge and
skills for the purposes of the devil. You meet back with your cohorts
in your evil church and tell all and devise strategy and plans for
taking over the world with Mormonism. Of course, in all this, I am
aiding and abetting you by providing you a forum whereby you can amass
all this information about Protestants and learn how to trick us in our
own words. Now if you laughed at Perry's message, I can only assume you
will get a good laugh out of what I just said.

You have to understand that because of the secrecy of Mormon meetings,
and because of its links to a Masonic foundation, they imagine that back
in your secret meetings, you all openly worship Lucifer. So everything
out here is simply a front, an image, put on so that you guys can carry
out your deception of the world. When you evade answering pointed
questions or wiggle out of clear contradictions, this is all perceived
to be done consciously and intentionally. In their minds, there is no
room for honest disagreement when it comes to Mormonism.

You had better explain this in a little more detail. I think I know
what you mean, but I am very certain that some here will be tempted to
use this as ammunition aimed at me, to prove that you are a spy here,
gathering information to use against us. :-) Maybe you can give us a
few examples of the things you have discussed.

By the way, I saw in a catalogue a pamphlet on the Trinity. I haven't
read it yet, but I was thinking about ordering one. This company (Rose
Publishing www.rose-publishing.com) usually does some pretty good
laminated pamphlets with a historical foundation. I was wondering if
you would be interested in my sending you one since we have done such a
poor job of explaining the Trinity doctrine.

Peace be with you.
