off the top of my head, K, they're a series of arbitrary sequential time frames named by a guy named Darby, I think, who (whether he originated them or not) imposed them on biblical history--cosmetically, IMO--in the late 1800s, maybe very early 1900s, sorta like a set of overlays up to seven deep which can be displayed singley (to isolate a particular period of time in which God is alleged to have dealt with humanity a certain way) or cumulatively (to demonstrate, e.g., 'progressive revelation') startg with innocence, then , maybe 'flood' running on through, e.g., 'law', 'grace', (lastly) 'kingdom'

someone else may have some more/better details about 'dispensationalism'--chime in; basically, what's the extent it's influence on Mormoneze; what is your sense of their concept of it?G
