John Smithson writes:
Izzy -- people like judyt mean well. She is doing the best she can do with her existing assumptions, education, limitations (we all have them) and the like. Her approach is as valuable as Bill's or Miller's or whoever. When she educates, the value is obvious. When she confronts, the value is found in a determined study to overcome her bias (we all have bias) This list is not a church -- thank God. In a church setting, none of us would be allowed to have these discussions. There is NO freedom within the limitations of the church.

jt: Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty so what you are saying is that the Church you attend is sans Holy Spirit.

I attend church, but not for the purpose of learning more about God. I am there to be revisited by His Spirit and affirmed in my faith.

jt: No liberty, no Spirit. What are you being visited and affirmed by? Are you sure they are not religious spirits posing as the real thing?

That is more important to me, on the occasion that I attend, than the 8,331st sermon on John 3:16, if you get my drift. You stay within the list offers yet another point of view. I firmly believe that judyt gets a great deal out of belonging to the group that we might credit.

jt: Is the above conclusion the fruit of your existing assumptions, education, and limitations John? Are you writing this to overcome your own bias?  I dont have a sense of belonging to a group because there is no unity here other than everyone names the name of Christ; we are not ONE in the Spirit and there certainly is no love. Until God and His Word have preeminence I dont expect things to change in which case I may have to go the way of Vincent which should please Izzy.
