I saw the movie as well, but I was disturbed by it. While John saw positive aspects to it, I am the opposite. I saw how easily it is for a man (a leader with little or no accountability) to fall from grace and sanity, and drift into the cultic and cult-leader status.
While I do not want to sit and "judge" whether the man/men really was saved, is saved, or is not saved... I do use him as well as other "leaders" I've met as a midrash (parable) on the delicacy of our walk with YHVH. I will pray and intercede for them because most "listen to no one but the spirit" or "have no need for a man to teach them."

Hi slade -- first time response to your postings.
I do agree pretty much with what you are saying. Accountability on a local and congregational level is important -- but there was accountability in the movie. Don't forget, the apostle's congregation was taken from him and deservedly so. His evil deed was brought to light, as well. I believe his conversion was real (in the movie) but the Lord's physical judgment was sure and undeniable, as well.
For me, it said, "be sure your sins will find you out." It is not the worthiness of the messager that is ultimately important but the truth of the message itself. There were a number of very carnal men who served the Lord as leaders, prophets and kings in the bibilical message. Samson is named in the Heb 11 "hall of faith" ---- a truly proposterous circumstance except for the fact that the list of men and women of faith is God's list.
