Good Morning Perry -
I found the Lampbroadcast website and read Mr.
Chitwood's thesis; but I have a problem with some of his concepts, the first
being his transposition of six days in Genesis to six thousand
years. Genesis 1:19 specifically says that the evening and the morning were
the 4th day and repeats this in Vs.23 for the 5th day and in V.31 for the 6th
day. In Genesis 2:3 we see the first Sabbath when God rested and
this is a type of the sabbath given to Israel under the Law.
The second problem I have with his thesis is the idea
of the spirit being saved right away and the soul taking six thousand years.
Paul taught progressive sanctification which involved spirit, soul, and
body. If the human spirit does not need cleansing after salvation how
would one explain the following scriptures (2 Corinthians 7:1, 1 Thessalonians
5:23, and 2 Thessalonians 2:13)?
The third problem I have is with
Chitwood's concept of type/anti-type regarding the Triune Godhead -
He describes this as: "the Spirit of God moves, God speaks, and light comes
into existence." whereas I understand the Godhead to operate as: God the
Father having the original concept or thought, God the Son speaking
this into being (as the Word of God), and God the Spirit causing it to
happen.
I perceive some Calvinism in Chitwood's concept of "man
having to be completely passive in relation to the salvation of the spirit which
also conflicts with the scriptures above and in 1 Corinthians
3:9 we are told that we are to be co-laborers with God.
His sabbath rest is attainable right now "in
Christ" - we don't have to wait for six thousand years until His Second
Coming We will enter His rest as we, in obedience and
by faith, put off some things and put on others as in (Romans 13:12,14; 1
Corinthians 5:13; 2 Corinthians 3:27; Ephesians 4:22,24,31; Ephesians 6:11;
Colossians 3:8,9,10,12,14)
Thank you so much for posting this URL Perry it
challenged me, drove me to God's Word, and it made me think :)
