There are seasons and size limits on Florida lobster.  The season is closed during May, June, July, and part of August so that they can spawn without being stressed.  It is also illegal to take an egg bearing female at any time, even though the season may be open.  An adult female can carry four million eggs under her tail.  Few make it to maturity.  In addition to man, octopus, turtles and fish are fond of a lobster dinner.  Turtles and trigger fish are the most damaging when they are in traps.
