Subject: [TruthTalk] From the 10/04 "Real Simple" magazine

Right out of the pages of the current "Real Simple" magazine, which is mostly about women’s fashions and lifestyles(not a Conservative bastion by any means!) From the section, "The Choice is Yours", which compares Bush with Kerry in many categories:

Reproductive Rights:

Bush: Opposes abortion except in cases of rape or incest or when a mothers’s life is endangered.

Signed a ban on partial-birth abortion, a procedure in which a late-term fetus is partially delivered before it is aborted.

Stopped US funding of international family-planning organizations that provide abortions or abortion counseling.

Kerry: Supports abortion rights. Has voted against banning partial-birth abortion and for ending the ban on privately funded abortions at overseas military hospitals.

TAXES:

Bush: Has made cutting taxes a priority of his domestic agenda. Enacted a plan to reduce taxes by $1.35 Trillion over 10 years, mostly by lowering ALL income tax rates and estate taxes. Obtained passage of $350 billion in additional tax cuts, including reducing taxes on dividends; increasing the child tax credit to $1,000; and reducing the “marriage penalty”. Now seeks to make these tax cuts permanent.

Kerry: Proposes repealing the Bush administration’s tax cuts for people earning more than $200K/year. Voted against the dividend-tax cut and its income tax cut.

CIVIL RIGHTS:

Bush: Supports a Constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriage.

Kerry: Opposes gay marriage but supports civil unions. Voted to expand the definition of hate crimes to include sexual orientation. Voted against the Defense of Marriage Act, which defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. ….Voted against a Constitutional amendment to ban flag burning.

IRAQ:

Bush: Vigorously sought the overthrow of Saddan Hussein….ordered the invation of Iraw, which led to the capture of Hussein.

Kerry: Voted to authorize military force against Iraw. Voted against the administration’s reqauest for an additional $87 billion for the war in Iraq.  Opposed the first Gulf War.

Personally, I believe is it unconscionable for any follower of Christ in America to NOT vote for President Bush’s re-election. The only alternative, not a third party candidate, but Kerry.
