Hi
Jeff,
I am afraid you
didn’t address any of the points I made below. One: Torah and
Logos are not equivalents; one is a Person, one a thing, a pointer to a
Person. Two: One is eternal, the other is not. You believe
that Torah is still in effect. I believe that the Word is still in
effect. When I face our heavenly Father I want to say I gave primacy to
His Son, not His law. Again they are not equivalents. My theology
is not medieval. Perhaps you read my posts too fast. Already today
you accused me of being Hellenized and after a re-read realized that I was
being far more Hebraic.
Your grasp of
historical theology seems to be limited.
I'M THINKING THAT IT IS YOUR GRASP OF HISTORICAL THEOLOGY THAT
IS WRONG
My theology is
actually called Nicene. THE ROOT OT THE
PROBLEM
It is the theology
formed by the early GENTILE Christians as God
impressed upon them Who His Son was. MY THEOLOGY IS BASED
ON ONE DOCUMENT, THE BIBLE, I DO NOT NEED MAN-MADE DOCTRINES OR THEOLOGIES
THAT REJECT THE BIBLICAL TRUTH IN FAVOR OF MYTH AND
HATRED.
ACTUALLY IT WAS THE BEGINNING OF ANTI-SEMITISM; IF IT LOOKED
JEWISH IT WAS REJECTED. THAT IS MY BASIS FOR CALLING YOUR NICENE THEOLOGY
MEDIEVAL.
Truth does not need
to line up with doctrine;TRUE, DOCTRINES, THE MAN-MADE
DOGMA'S OF YOUR CHURCH NEED TO LINE UP WITH BIBLICAL TRUTH. IF A LIE IS TOLD
ENOUGH TIMES IT BEGINS TO SOUND LIKE THE TRUTH. WHEN DOCTRINES SUPERCEDE
BIBLICAL TRUTH, IT IS BIBLICAL TRUTH THAT GETS
REJECTED!
it needs to
line up with the Word of God (Captial W AND T
(TORAH)= Jesus). Hence, when the Pharisees noticed that Jesus did
not line up with doctrine and accused Him they were wrong. You are wrong
as well. As I said in one of our first emails today our biggest
disagreement is that you believe primacy should be placed on the Torah.
I believe, along with scripture and orthodox Christianity, that primacy is to
be placed on Christ. I hope you do not run from this but I suppose you
will.
I am learning
that in these discussions one rarely wants to submit what others are saying to
Jesus Christ; rather, we like to submit them to our own framework which we are
convinced rests upon the Bible. If it fails this test we throw it
out. I am guilty of this at least 3 or 4 times a day.AND AGAIN RIGHT NOW, UNTIL YOU SEE THE DOCTRINES OF THE NICEAN
COUNCIL FOR WHAT THEY REALLY WERE, YOU WILL NOT SEE THE TRUTH OF
SCRIPTURE. When I had to begin my theology anew I had to place
all my loved doctrines in light of Who Jesus Christ is. This is a
continual process for me. It is so easy to fall back to practicing
religion instead of following Christ.

sin?
Sorry Jonathan, I
disagree.
Jonathan: I
would suggest that defining Logos as Torah would be incorrect. The
closest Hebrew equivalent to logos would be dabhar. I do not believe
that dabhar refers to the Torah (law). We could not rephrase John 1.1
as “In the beginning was Torah, and Torah was with God and Torah was
God.” The reason this is so is because in John 1.1 logos is referring
to a Person. We are not talking about something that points towards
God (law) but rather God Himself. There has only been one person who
ever obeyed the Torah of God: Jesus Christ. Christ did not fulfill
something He already was. Secondly, Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of
the Father. The Torah (law) is not eternal. Here we may need to
discuss exactly what you are referring to when using the word Torah.
The word of the Lord will last forever. The law of the Old Testament
will/has not.
Yeshua,in his
earthly walk proved that a sinless life was possible. Is it probable? I doubt
it, but he showed us it can be done. Again it is getting to the point where I
am compelled to drop this discussion (if that is what j.smithson calles hit
and run so be it) because of medieval theology. But I'll try one
more time, READ MATTHEW 5:17-20. This passage destroys your theology.
Heaven and earth are still here, so as Yeshua said, "The Law (Torah) is STILL
in effect. Therefore, your theology is not biblical. The
disturbing facts of Christian grace theology render Yeshua (Jesus Christ)
a liar if it also rejects Torah as it so blatently does. As always, when
truth does not line up with doctrine it is the truth that gets compromised,
not the misguided doctrine.
