Actually, he only smiled and grimaced when I told him I was now going to call you a bunch of fairies.  He obviously has no hope of controlling me at this point. (He’s hopelessly lost under my charming spell.) Iz

Sorry Iz but, do I need to resort to asking that you have your (thoughtful) husband read and interpret the posts prior to your embarassingly inane responses spew forth?

Righto again jt.  When scripture says God “hates”, it means hates. Those fairies living in Oz just can’t conceive of God hating anything.  Love must hate evil.  Izzy

Peter may not have had Youngs or Strongs but he did have the same Holy Spirit didn't he?

Peter didn't have a problem with that word and neither did Paul who used it in his epistles to the church.

The word in Psalm 11 is also used in Deuteronomy 21:15 where God says he loved Jacob and hated

Esau.  Paul repeats this in Romans 9:13 using the Greek word Miseo (which means to detest, persecute,

hate, love less) which is different from the word "oppose" as used in 2 Timothy 2:25.  Don't you believe

the promise that God will lead us into all truth without wrangling over words -  Lance?

Do you believe that the word 'hate' H A T E is that which appeared in the original manuscript? Do you believe that this same word (hate) is a human attempt at 'interpretation'  PS: Neither Peter nor any of his day possessed Young's or Strong's concordances as do you.

Yes and hate means hate. God actually hates some things and so does Jesus. If he meant oppose he would

have said oppose.  He didn't have any trouble talking about people who oppose themselves by rejecting the

truth did he?  I'm wondering if you guys are under the impression that the Holy Spirit who inspired the men

who wrote scripture and who is here to lead us can only understand and communicate two ways, and one

of them is misleading.  Is this the consensus?   jt

Words 'mean' things.

No if hate is what it says then hate is the best meaning. The number in strongs which is #8130 means "to hate

personally, enemy, foe, hateful, utterly odious.  Why do you find it difficult to accept the fact that God hates

some things?  Jesus says in the book of Revelation that he hates the work of the Nicolaitians, so there are certain

things that he hates also ....  Judyt

I think you guys have been playing nicely so far. Only a bit of sand has been flung in each other's eyes. Do you mind if I step in and make a small comment?

Look at Psalm 11:4-7 and its use of the English word hate. We look at hate as a "strong emotion of disdain and strong negative feelings (perhaps even evoking the desire for murder)." Can I ask you to transplant the English word oppose in place of hate? Do you think that fits God's personality better? I do. Now, look at Strong's/Young's and see if you agree on the English word oppose's usage.

(Another way of looking at this word -- the Hebrew word sane -- is one who needs to change.)

Psalm 11:4  The LORD is in His (7) holy temple; the LORD'S (8) throne is in heaven;
          His (9) eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.
5
       The LORD (10) tests the righteous and (11) the wicked,
          And
the one who loves violence His soul hates.
6
       Upon the wicked He will (12) rain [1] snares;
          (13) Fire and brimstone and (14) burning wind will be the portion of (15) their cup.

       For the LORD is (16) righteous, (17) He loves righteousness;
          The upright will (18) behold His face.
