I think that one, from the description I'm reading, is saying not to have a goatee.

"Don't round your hair at the temples or mar the edges of your beard." (Stern) The Septuagint says...."disfigure your beard."

Well, he doesn't round his hair at his temples.
I'll steal (uh-oh...does copyright infringement apply to wives????) a portion of something Slade wrote awhile back regarding this....

The Hebrew word shachat has been translated as mar, but the word actually means to destroy. In this way, we can see that the command for the “generic” son of Yisrael is not to destroy the ends of his beard. If he were to trim his beard, he would not be destroying his beard. If he becomes clean-shaven, he just destroyed the end of his beard — he no longer has beard ends. However, is nothing against a non-Cohen keeping his beard as long as he possibly can. By all means, a man is able to keep a beard any length he so chooses as long as there is a beard on his face.

I’m wondering if Slade keeps this commandment.  (Does an electric razor count?) J Izzy
