Actually, Gary, this is some of the strongest evidence that Paul did not consider himself an apostate Pharisee. He says he IS a Pharisee, and the son of a Pharisee, that that he was on trial there partly because of his belief in a doctrine of the Pharisees (the resurrection of the dead). The result of his statement was that the Pharisees came to his side and supported him while the Sadduccees hated him all the more. Notice how in the passage you quote, the Pharisees say, "we find nothing wrong with this man [Paul]."

Acts 23:9
(9) And there occurred a great uproar; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and began to argue heatedly, saying, "We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?"

Peace be with you.
