I don't see myself as detaching truths from Jesus. When I say that I
believe in axioms of truth, I mean that they can be understood without
considering the rest of the complexity to which they are attached. From my
perspective, Jesus Christ envelopes everything in this universe, both
animate and inanimate, and to say that truth exists apart from him would be
false. Nevertheless, this does not mean that reductionist approaches with
truth cannot be done to divide it more finely in order to understand it
better. If I study a tree within a forest and perhaps focus upon the bark
of the tree and how it functions, that does not mean that I think the tree
is not part of a forest. I simply do not think that I must always be
keeping the forest in view in order to understand the bark of a particular
tree.
David, David, David. One of several things is about to happen. Will quit this forum, never again to even utter the words TruthTalk; you will never again enter into a discussion on logic, truth, inspiration and interpretive perfectionism; you will soon regret having written the above; you will glory in yoru association with your new found friends, here on TT. I am not sure which -- but perhaps one is about to happen. Why do I speak thus and so???
Simple. Your above paragraph is perhaps remarkable. An excellent statement. I expecially appreciated "I mean that they can be understood without considering the rest of the complexity to which they are attached." The entire statement is rather profound. Anyway, this is so right on that I wonder just how it is that we disagree.
