Judy -- why are you spending time dragging things out of the archives to prove me a hypocrite?

slade -- Because you are holding others to a different standard than yourself. While ad hominems may be important to control, there are other issues far more important than a silly poke in the eye. After all, Yeshua called hypocrites a brood of vipers. That's pretty ad hominemish to me! In my opinion, there are holiness issues that should be held high over and above the ad hominem.  To show that I am not holding you to a higher standard than myself, I'm looking for all of my hypocrisies as well; I evaluate my attitude often... and I mean often. So, I encourage you, Judy, to discover where I hold people to a higher standard than myself so I can change for the better. I always want to be available to the Spirit to facilitate a positive effect on people.

I've nailed noone to the wall and agree with you that Torah and Trinity are words that do not originate in scripture.

Torah originates in Scripture. It predates the English language by... oh 3000 years or so. The first time it shows up is in Genesis 26.5.

jt: The law of Moses had not yet been given in Genesis 26:5.

Trinity, like Rapture is nowhere to be found.... and not in any English translation I possess. The Latin parent of the English word "Rapture" is found in the Vulgate ... if Jack Van Impe can be trusted. Nailing someone to the wall is a Slade idiom meaning you have brought up what is perceived as a fault.

It's no secret that I don't care a whole lot for 'contemporary theology' hermeneutics, etc. To each his own.

If you interpret Scripture, you practice hermeneutics. Nothing wrong with it. Hermeneutics is a word transferred to the English to indicate the theory and methodology of interpretation (especially of Scripture), or the branch of theology dealing with principles of exegesis.

jt: Yes. Right Slade. You like it and that's fine, according to your faith so be it unto you -  My faith happens to lie elsewhere though and I need to obey my own conscience before the Lord.

Where the Faith gets raped is when the hermeneutist is looking to justify a doctrine instead of allowing Scripture to define doctrine. [For instance, I know a group of people of believe Jews, blacks, Hispanics, and everyone else they "hate" were created on the 5th day along with the rest of the beasts of the field ("moo," says slade). The blue-eyes blondes, on the other hand, were formed on the 6th day in God's Image. As it turns out, there are several black hermeneutists who teach this doctrine as well, but from their benefit (again, slade says, "moo."]

jt: The above hermeneutists are a good reason why it is best to trust the Lord to fulfill His New Covenant promise and leave all of them alone.

Peace to you and your family on this special day, Judy. Please don't think I'm picking on you. -- slade

jt: An peace to you, Kay, and your family Slade ..... No worries! I like it better when the love fest is on ....  judyt
