From: "David Miller" Hi Judy, You mentioned the phrase, "a more excellent way," in the context
of physical
healing. I attended a fellowship meeting in a home several weeks ago in Tampa and a man and his wife there gave me a book with a title by this name. The author
is Henry Wright,
a pastor in Georgia. Are you familiar with this book?
jt: Yes I am David. I learned of Henry Wright's
ministry about four years ago and I have been
to Georgia twice (for a week each time) and have
experienced God at work in the lives of ppl there.
What Henry teaches (which you will see from the book)
is not weird or outlandish and has been in
the Bible all the time; he just goes deeper into issues
of sanctification and when people receive
God's Word and deal with these areas in their lives they are physically
healed.
Henry holds no "miracle
meetings" and makes no rash promises; he
says that he wants to help
people and is open for God
to use him. Henry says he has operated in all of the gifts of the Spirit
at one time or another but
as you probably know already noone knows what will happen at any
given time because they operate by faith.
Pleasant Valley try to model their Church
services after
the early Church and that was quite an experience for
me because unlike most churches I had
been to it is not a one man show. The whole body interacts, they have chairs on one side for
testimonies and on the other side for those who need something from God both of which
happen between worship and/or exhortations by Henry or whoever else God is inspiring.
There is loving correction in the event that things get out of hand but I never saw that happen
and I was so edified there. There is such peace.
Because the Wrights are becoming more well known people
come to GA who tend to want to
put Henry on a pedestal and they want
him to pray for them. He doesn't go along
with that at
all and sent his 6yr old daughter out to pray for one
man who came seeking him; at PVC they
told me that the man got healed so his faith must
have been in God rather than Henry.
I haven't gotten too far into reading it yet because I am working through
some books on
covenants, but it looks very interesting and very good. If you are
familiar with it, I would like
to hear your thoughts about it. It seems to me that maybe you
mentioned it sometime in the
past.
jt: I have mentioned it and so did Chris Barr before he
stopped posting to the list; someone had
given the book to his wife also. You should
relate to the book with your scientific background.
Henry Wright studied pre-med
and knowing about physiology really helped him only some people
get turned off by the
medical jargon and find that difficult to relate to. I had no problem
because
I used to work as a medical transcriptionist; Nurses seem to relate
also. I've learned so much that
is really helpful
- am still doing my homework and walking it out daily.
I do hope you will share when you start reading the
book,
Grace and Peace,
Judy
