I
didn't expect these answers to my nosiness. Thank you for letting me get to know
you better. I appreciate it.

Not much to tell Iz. Pretty boring
stuff. Born in a boarding house bathroom at the end of the hall on
Oct.20,1933. Whoever had me did not bother to take me with her when she
left. It was the depression, hard times, I guess. The man who
investigated was my soon to be father. He took me home and arranged for
my adoption. This was in Covington, Ky, and adoption was not a
complicated thing back then.
Father died when I was thirteen. My
mom met some clown who persuaded her to move to Miami, FL. (No winter clothes
to buy, no heating bill was the persuasion used.) Went to school off and
on in Miami, until the dean persuaded me to drop out. Said I was wasting
my time and his. I had a problem concentrating and staying focused on
one thing. I was very good at multi tasking, but school did not operate
that way, so I found it impossibly boring. Still can't sit and watch TV.
Have to be doing something. They did not have a name for it then ,but I
got a grandson with the same problem and they tell his mother that it is ADD
now.
After dropping out, I worked as a laborer. Unloading box
cars and trucks, roofing crew, body shop flunky, and a couple of dozen other
nowhere jobs.
Joined the Air force to learn a trade. Wanted to go
into weather forecasting, but the AF needed fuel truck drivers. I had no
opinion as to which branch of service would be best; just picked the one with
the shortest period of basic training. Learned to drive an eighteen
wheeler and drink a lot while in the service. I went to a lot of
hillbilly dances around Sacramento when I had a Saturday night off. It
was during this period when several women took advantage of me because I was
easily seduced. This was not a group effort on their part, just a once
in a while thing, one at a time. My wife's uncle was a drummer in a band
one night, and his niece was visiting from Washington. There were four
of us who were fairly short and a buddy we called long John who was fairly
tall. We always sent long John to ask a strange girl to dance first,
then we would measure where the girl came up to on long John, and if she did
not measure too tall, one of us would ask her to dance next. It would
have been unthinkable at that time to find yourself on the dance floor with a
girl taller than yourself.
To make a long story short, Vee was the
right height and did not try to seduce me. In fact, she would not even
come out to the car for a drink, though we were well supplied to provide for
every taste from straight Bourbon to peppermint schnapps. She would not
even allow me to seduce her! But I did get her name and address, and
romanced her by mail for a long period of time before she proposed
marriage.
When we left the AF, I worked for a while at Sears warehouse
in West Palm Beach,FL., then mated on a charter boat for a while, then worked
as a game warden for about three years. At that point after our
daughter's birth, her whole system changed and she became allergic to about
everything in south FL., so we packed up and went to her home town in Yakima
,Wa. Could find no work there except bucking hay, so we went to seek our
fortune in Calif. once again. Walked into the state personnel office in
Sacramento and asked what they were testing for next. They said
"Correctional officer, tomorrow." I said, "I'll be here". Took the
test for correctional officer, but it was two months later before they hired
me, so in the meantime I sold Pontiacs. Not very good at it. Sold
six in two months.
Worked for three years at the maximum security wing
of the Calif. medical facility in Vacaville where they kept the violent
fruitcakes. Learned that your mouth can get you into or out of a lot of
trouble, depending on what comes out of it. Transferred to Susanville
when they built a new prison there, and found out that the local JC taught a
gun smithing course. Took the course, quit the dept. of corrections and
went back to FL. Finally had a trade. Worked as salesman first,
then manager of a gun store and firing range in Hialeah. Stayed there
until both kids graduated, then went fishing for the next eleven years
(lobster fishing.) During that time my son was killed in an accident on the
job and my mother died of natural causes Got too old to be pulling and
scrubbing 230+ lobster traps a day by myself, so sold out and moved to where
we are. Have been here sixteen years, built a good reputation and have a
lot of friends. That brings you up to date. Currant statistics:
Height 5'7". weight 154, age 71, Education, school of hard knocks, I.Q. 130,
married 48+ years, and saved for 24. Now it's your turn
