Now I REALLY don't understand your reply. :-) Sarcasm is cutting language that means the opposite of what they seem to say. Sarcasm is intended to mock or deride. Can you explain how you see this passage as sarcasm? I don't see it. Did Jesus mean the opposite of what he was saying here? I've looked at the Amos 4 passage that Lance offered. These seem to be an example of sarcasm, but non-sarcastic remarks are mixed in tightly with it so there is no danger is misunderstanding the meaning. Thanks, Lance, for sharing it. I thought also about Elijah on mount Carmel. Same thing there. No possibility of misunderstanding the sarcasm. I know some street preachers who use a lot of sarcasm in their preaching and in their emails. I tend not to do it, so sometimes it seems to me they go too far. This is why this subject interests me.
