We are not to sacrifice to the false gods in high places... i.e., the tops of hills, etc. Read about Bilam and the attempted cursing of the Sons of Yisrael in Numbers.

It means people who occupy positions of high visibility, usually in government jobs, but could also be those in teaching, clerics, etc. who are able to influence others by setting the pace, or setting the example for others to follow. A wicked king, like Saul, for instance, usually led Israel to do evil, as they watched his bad example. Monkey see, monkey do, as they say. Terry wrote: When did they leave town, Judy? I don't think she meant that they left town. Paul speaks about the evil spirits being in the air, working in the children of disobedience from there. Ephesians 2:2 (2) Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Ephesians 6:12 (12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The phrase "high places" refers to the heavenlies. The NASB translates this passage in the following way: Ephesians 6:12 (12) For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
