Thank you, Judy, and allow me to apologize to you
for not being as patient with you as I should have been. I am responsible for a
lot of that which has been our problem. I very much want to develop with you a
right way to disagree. What this site does that doesn't even happen in "church,"
since we can go home and get away from people there, is put us as believers in
the position of having to develop the inter-personal skills necessary to
interact with difficult people on a daily basis. What a blessing it would be to
have those skills perfected! I know that I am very difficult for you and you are
the same for me -- yet we both love our Lord and desire to please him. Maybe if
we (and my responsibility is for me) can keep that in mind, when what we are
really wanting to do is pluck each others eyes out -- maybe then we will be
blessed to learn that we actually can be agreeable in this "already but not yet"
time of our disagreement. Anyway, thanks again and please accept my
apology.
Bill

Well Said Bill - I can agree with you 100% in
this area. Thanks for verbalizing it so well. jt
Out of respect for David Miller and what he is
attempting to convey with his ad hom rule, I am back. After departing I
wrote to David over my concerns that we the Christians on TT were allowing
ourselves to be drawn into the gutter with our language to each other. I
suggested that the Christians on TT would be willing to accept and impose
upon themselves a higher standard of discourse, considering he whose name we
bear. We did not actually get into how this ought to be implemented,
but I did tell David that the responsibility was his to take the initiative,
since TT is his site. I assured him that his moderator would respect and
support his decision and that the membership would fall in line as it became
clear the reasons for the renewed emphasis upon godly discourse. I am
probably a little more libertarian about the way this should all take place
than David is, but we are both in agreement that the Christians on TT,
having the Spirit of God to guide them, are well equipped to be setting a
godly example for any who may not be naming the name of Christ as their
Lord. Please, let us all agree to govern ourselves and not put the
moderators into a position of having to police our language. I am serious
about the edification thing. It is our vocation to the church to strengthen
and build up our brothers and sisters. If what in actuality we are doing on
a regular basis is tearing each other down, then we need to repent. May I
suggest that we all just take a little time to reflect upon our own desires
for being on TruthTalk. And then when we have done that, either come back on
with a renewed motivation to glorify the Lord with our language, or out of
respect for our Lord, for David, and for the others on TT, maybe decide to
just not come back on for awhile. Time does seem to have a way of putting
things into perspective.
Your brother,
Bill
