DAVEH: I didn't mean to get tricky with you in my answer, Lance. It
is just that the question you asked, and the manner in which it was
asked, can lead to seemingly contradictory problems in my answer IF I
try to keep the answer short. IF I were to give the long answer, some
might criticize me suggesting that I'm trying to teach Mormonism. That
may not make much sense, so let me try to explain it. Your original
question was......
Procreation vis a vis all 'gods' is,
I believe, central to your teaching is it not?
.......First, you qualified it by using the term ALL. By doing that,
the technical answer is no. Not all Gods must
pro-create, as I understand it. (But....I could be wrong....it is a
question I've never posed to other LDS folks, nor have I given it much
thought.)
However, the (continued) creation of mankind....or more
specifically.....godkind, if that is a word.....is central to LDS
theology. The Lord created us so that we could further create. If
that were not so, don't you suppose he could simply have created us as
he did Adam and Eve.....
Let me ask you, Lance. Why do you think God created us? LDS
theology teaches that he did it so that we can become like
him.....which means he intends us to become creative, as he was/is
creative. So....just as the God created us and our world, I believe
that those who become perfect like him, will also be able to create as
did he.
Does that explain it adequately, Lance?
Now....back to my questions, Lance. Do you believe it would have
been a sin for Jesus to have children? And related to that, do you
believe God told A&E to sin when he commanded them to have children?

Dave:Would you kindly answer my
'is it not so' question?
DAVEH: Sorry 'bout that Lance. It didn't seem to me like you were
really asking a question as much as making a point with an exclamatory
question.
Furthermore, I'm not sure I can accurately/easily answer your
question. Technically, as I understand it, the answer to your question
is no. But in a general sense, I think the answer you are requesting
is yes.

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM
DAVID MILLER ON THIS ONE. I believe that I understand why Dave (I'm
dropping the 'H' as I'm capable of distinguishing between Dave and
David) would NOT consider this blasphemous. Procreation vis a vis all
'gods' is, I believe, central to your teaching is it not?
The one act of procreation
by God, as I understand it, is that of a supernatural conception
attested to in Scripture. Were Jesus, as a man, to have done so it
would have fallen into a catetgory other than this.
DAVEH: If that were true, then when God commanded Adam and
Eve to populate the world, would the Lord have been commanding A&E
to sin?

Re: [TruthTalk] Jonathan's Book Review (Discussion)
DAVEH: I'm not sure I should step forward on this, Lance, as I do not
know of any specific proof one way or the other. So....FTR, I don't
have a strong opinion one way or the other. However, I do not believe
such would be blasphemous, as was suggested below. I am curious
though....Why would Christians consider it blasphemous for Jesus to
have been married and had children?

If anyone, and I do mean
ANYONE ON TT, subscribes to this position posited by Linda (you
actually believe this?) please step forward.
That Jesus
had a baby by Mary for starters. Izzy
