It always gets dragged out sooner or later in a last-ditch effort to discredit the book that is obviously of God, regardless of technicalities you point out. You should believe the verse you quoted, as it applies to what you wrote--"And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God" Title Page I would not Judge Joseph Smith as he translated the plates into English as he knew it. As is made plain in the D&C, translating involved studying it out beforehand, and then getting the burning spirit to confirm or reject what the translator thought was correct. It was a laborious process, and one likely to engender some errors. But the book as a whole is, as Joseph himself put it, the most correct book on earth. He did not say it was perfect--simply the most correct.
