jt: Then how would you interpret
the following Caroline:
"The sower sows the Word" (Mark
4:14) What is this Word and who is the Sower?
Jesus said "My Word hath no place
in you" (John 8:37) so here He separates his Word from His
person.
"The Word of God grew and
multiplied" Acts 12:24 - Jesus is at the RH of the Father in Heaven so what
is growing and multiplying here?
"Receive with meekness the
engrafted Word" (James 1:21)
"Be ye doers of the Word and not
hearers only deceiving your own selves (James 1:22)
Caroline:
Spiritual time and space is different from
physical time and space.
Where does the above come from
Caroline? Time has been time from the beginning as we know it and it
can be seen in the book of Genesis where a day and a night are "one day" ie
24hrs.
We are in Christ and He is in us.
If we are in Christ it is by
faith and His Spirit represents Him and indwells us if we have
been born again. Is this what you are saying?
Those verses refer to His life in us and for
us. He is called the Word because we don't have a good English translation
for 'logos'. It's a Greek idea describing the "logic" of the universe as
well as the source of this governing principle. Grecian Jews also thought of
logos as the wisdom of God, his power in creation and his communication with
us. It's a huge idea :-)
So IYO "the Word" in all of the
above verses from scripture is a Gk idea which describes the "logic" of the
universe? I don't think so
Caroline; scripture does not
conflict with other scripture, nor does it contradict itself. The
above would have to harmonize with John 1:1. There is logos which is "the
letter" but the Rhema which is the revealed Word is the Word of Christ. He
is not an idea.
When it comes to describing God, words and
human concepts are inadequate. We have to make do with poetry and metaphors
as well as propositional statement. Here are some of the best
statements:
I agree that human concepts will
get us nowhere, and that aside from a revealed Word from God, we are as lost
as a goose.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Yes the second member of the
Godhead who was present at the beginning and who spoke the worlds into
existence..
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the
truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through
me."
I see you use the
NIV
1 John 1:2 The life appeared; we have seen it
and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with
the Father and has appeared to us.
John the Beloved is speaking
about Jesus in the flesh who walked during His earthly ministry as a
man in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is Word. He is Eternal
Life. He is Truth. He is the
Way.
He is The Word of God Caroline
and I don't believe we are talking about the same thing even while using
almost the same words.
