I was interviewed (as part of promoting my first book) on the PTL show shortly after the scandals hit and the compound had been taken over by Jerry Falwell.  I had never cared for the Bakers or their empire, but found it interesting to spend the night there and see just what all the controversy was about.  I was picked up at the airport by a properly attired driver with a limo and taken to a gorgeous suite in a fantasy-land hotel complete with mini-shopping center inside.  The grounds surrounding all the buildings were lush and lovely. And yet it was all an empty shell of its former glory, with very few people there.  The half-built outdoor entertainment park sat empty and still—the merry-go-round wasn’t merry anymore. The aura of God’s judgment hung over everything like a pall.  “Ichabod” could be felt everywhere.  How fitting, I thought, for a very worldly, materialistic empire built on a lie and all in the name of God.  The after-effects of the Baker’s foolishness will ripple for many years to come. I believe that what that scandal, and similar ones like it, did to disillusion my ex-husband had a lot to do with his falling away from his newfound faith in Christ. How many people will be found in hell due to the devastating effects of people like the Bakers?  And I pity the Bakers, sincerely, because they will suffer as much as anyone else for what they did. How very very sad; the boy has no idea; from what I've read both Bakker children are quite bitter about the way

their parents have been treated.  Jim may have been well meaning wanting Christians to have a nice theme park

and all and apparently he was charismatic but his gift was not from God and he allowed the demons to set him up.

He & Tammy were living in 'fantasy land' and the fall was devastating for a lot of ppl.  jt.

Rolling Stone magazine Jay Bakker I dropped out of high school. I can barely write. I'm white trash. I wear leather bracelets and tattoos. But God has given me a gift  to relate to people and see the common sense of the Bible.

'A lot of people think that being Christian is about not having abortions and not being gay,' Bakker tells his young audience, many of them similarly covered in ink and metal. 'That to me is pathetic and sad.' http://www.rense.com/general63/quiet.htm

John Fear of God has nothing to do with religious nonsense.  I had to learn this early on or I would be lying in

a heap somewhere along with the ppl you claim I have "put down"  I don't know what these ppl are doing today.

I hope they repented and turned back to God.  Most of them were in leadership positions and they did a lot of

damage with the choices they made.  Have you seen Jim Bakker's son?  But then being emotionally devastated

and tattooed from head to toe might not be a problem for you.  Why do you believe it judgmental to call

something what it is?  Having no fear of God is to call evil good.   jt

It's not the time one spends or what one is wearing at the time or how many certificates they have accumulated.
It's the heart attitude that matters to God.  No kidding.  Why do you need another degree A degree comes with an education attached to it.  That is what I am after.    And I need  those letters after my name to be received as a writer  --  not my idea; it is just the way it is    and why from the Assemblies?  There has been as much mess in that group as any other. Easy to criticize.  All of these were "disciplined" by that denomination.   I am at this time a member of Foursquare, Intern'l  --   The school offers what I need.  And you are no better than the people you put down.    Remember?  Off the top of my head I recall TBN, PTL, The Bakkers, Swaggart, Branham, Jessica Hahn and if I worked at it many more.  So what.

The Assemblies official teaching is (unless they have changed)  that someone who says they belong to Christ can not have a demon.  Something I personally believe, as well.  The demons just love it because this permits them to come and go as they please and they have a great time at Church with the Assemblies. You are so judgmental  --  and you have no fear of the God you claim to fear.    Were you actually going to say something of substance and just forgot or what???
